Cookie Push Stories

So now that a few of us have been out doing Cookie Pushes, I'd love for you to share any good experiences or conversations you had in the process. Who did you talk to? We're they receptive to you? Did they say anything that helps you understand the Yorkville Community and the people we're trying to reach any better? Tell us your stories so we can all share in the experience.

Looking forward to hearing about it,

-Mike

BTW, feel free to keep commenting on any of the previous conversations too. I'd love to see multiple threads of discussions going on this blog.

  • So far things have gone well for us. No one was opposed or angry about it, and most people we talked to were really nice. Its hard to say what the response will be, but it was worth the effort. it was hard finding people at home. we thought that perhaps doing the cookie pushes before a core group meeting or something might be good. then more people could help with it and we might find more people at home.

  • Well, we didn't have anyone show up to the Superbowl party as a result of the cookie pushes, but I'm not too discouraged. First, the Superbowl might not have been the best event to invite people to for a first time thing. It's too long of a time commitment to spend at a party where you don't know anybody and don't know how it will be. Also, since most of us did the pushes on weekdays we didn't actually talk to many first hand, and I doubt many of the people who just got the flyers and cookies on their doorstep would actually even consider coming.

Anyway, the pushes still help us get the word out to people about the new church in a way that is personal and face to face, so even if no one shows up to the parties, I think they're still worthwhile for that reason.
